Thomas married Emma Helen Evanson (1862-1950) on 28 January 1882. They were the parents of Martha H, Ida (David Myers), Albert E, Nettie M, Grace A (William DeVore), and Elsie J.


Davenport Daily Leader - Tuesday, January 29, 1901 - There was a special meeting of the Board of Health yesterday afternoon at the City Hall for the purpose of discussing the smallpox situation and to take some action thereon. ... Albeit Causby — Age 13 years, attended School No. 1. and first observed last Friday. Family consisted of Mr and Mrs. Causby, two girls, one a seamstress, and two small children.

Two guards were also ordered for this place. It was also left with Dr. Preston to decide as to whether Mr. Causby and the young lady seamstress should be allowed to continue their work, as both had taken a thorough fumigation bath and supplied with new clothing.

Married Mary Sealand on 2 April 1865 in Leichestershire, England. They had three children, but in early 1870 he deserted his family and came to America.  Joined the U.S. Army in Memphis, Tennessee on 1 January 1872.  Placed in Co. B 7th Cavalry.

Married Emily Larsen, daughter of Lars and Christina Larsen in Fargo, Dakota Territory in 1875. She had been married before to a man named Harry Williams. She died in February of 1880.

He was a quartermaster Sgt. in August 1875, but resigned and was discharged in June 1879 at Fort Abraham Lincoln.

Married his third wife Emma in January 1882.
