Jerome J. Koenig, 82, a Town of Centerville resident, went home to his Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2004.

He was born Aug. 25, 1921 in the Town of Meeme, the son of the late Peter and Anna Brost Koenig. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in School Hill.

On June 26, 1943 he was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Leonhard and the couple resided in the Town of Centerville. Dorothy passed away on Feb. 17, 2001.

As a young man, Jerome enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific Theater. After serving his country, Jerome was employed as a truck driver for Laritz Trucking Co. He was later employed by Polar Ware Co. of Sheboygan as a stainless steel welder for years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, Cleveland, and later joined Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8974 of Cleveland. His interests included stainless steel welding, which he did throughout eastern Wisconsin, and playing Sheepshead.

Jerome loved his family and their many family gatherings.

Survivors include his two sons, Ronald (Betty) Koenig of Sheboygan and Joseph (Cindy) Koenig of Town Herman; two daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Roehrborn of Town Herman and Barbara (Alan) Grawien of Town Centerville; 11 grandchildren, Steven (Kathy) Koenig, David (Jenny) Koenig, Shelley (Kurt) Christenson, Daniel (Cindy) Roehrborn, Rebecca (Brian) Charbonneau, Amanda Roehrborn and fiance Dylan Bell, Ronald Grawien, Trista DeRuyter and special friend Randy Kachur, Bryan DeRuyter, and Adam and Erin Koenig; nine great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Derek, Taylor and Amber Koenig, Melanie and Brock Roehrborn, Faith and Abagail Charbonneau and Riley Grawien; one brother, Roland (Lu Ann) Koenig of Sheboygan; two sisters, Elnor (Joe) Waller of California and Juanita Reisterer of Kiel; nine in-laws, Lucille Koenig of Newton, Marcella Thielke of Cleveland, Irene Fiedler of Cleveland, Margret Meinnert of Sheboygan, Arvin (Renette) Leonard of Georgia, Helen and Delmar Zarnik of Manitowoc and Bernice Leonard of Sheboygan; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, two sons, three brothers, two sisters, eight brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. The Rev. Gregory Coulchard, SDS will be celebrant. Burial will be on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 10 a.m. at St. Wendel Cemetery, Cleveland.

Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the hour of service.

The Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel of Cleveland is assisting the family with arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established in Jerome Koenig's name.
