VIDALIA — Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at Fort Necessity Baptist Church for Morgan Wade Pierce, 58, of Vidalia.

The Rev. Berry Alford officiated, with burial in the church cemetery under the direction of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro.

Mr. Pierce, a farmer and formerly of Franklin Parish, died Friday en route to Jefferson Davis Hospital in Natchez, Miss.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eliza Pierce of Jigger; four sons, Issac Erwin, Henderson Erwin, John D. Erwin, all of Jigger, and Morgan Pierce of New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Jean Dixon of Wisner and Mrs. Juanita King of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother, Archie Pierce of Jigger; four sisters, Mrs. Edith Juneau of Jigger, Mrs. Nedie [sic Medie] Thompson of Grayson, Mrs. Ira Barbor of Newellton and Mrs. Ouida Brian of Shreveport; 35 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
