Leila M. Kampmann, 81, of Random Lake passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 1, 2008.
Leila was born December 20, 1926 in Pulaski, Wisconsin to Kenneth and Valeska (Goll) Crane.
On August 31, 1946 Leila married Kenneth Kampmann.
Leila was one of the first people in Wisconsin to have open heart surgery when she was 29 years old. At that time she was told the surgery would give her ten years to live. She went on instead to raise a family, catch dozens of legal muskies, celebrate 59 wedding anniversaries, and inspire through her courage, kindness, attitude of gratitude, and sense of humor her family members and all those who knew her.
Leila is survived by a son, Robert (Julie) Kampmann of Crystal Lake; two daughters, Sharon (James) Bertram of Adell, and Patricia (William) Trowbridge of Plymouth; eight grandchildren, Anna (Kipp) Walvoord, Martha (Todd) Schisel, Lisa (Chris) Wills, James (Jeanna) Bertram, Kate Bertram, William (Danae) Deppiesse, Angela (Ben) Surratt, and Marie Deppiesse; five great-grandchildren, Sydney Wills, Lauren Wills, Tiernan Deppiesse, Kiara Deppiesse, James Bertram, and Bernadine Surratt; brothers, James, Douglas (Janice), Charles (Dona), and Herbert; sister, Mildred (Robert) Campbell; extended family, Dennis (Karen) Kampmann, Roxanne (John) Kempfert; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Leila was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in December 2005, and four brothers.
