Frances J. McDonnell, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Fran was born on May 23, 1930 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Schiesl Schmatz. Fran was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1948. She was a longtime employee at the Dramm Corporation from where she retired. On September 26, 1953 she married Harold "Mac" McDonnell at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Northeim. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2016.

Fran enjoyed traveling, entertaining family and friends at her home, gardening and especially tending to her rose bushes.

She is survived by her two sisters, Betty Musial, Manitowoc, and Ann Hassemer, Francis Creek; two sisters-in-law, Lois Schmatz, Brillion and Nancy McDonnell, Manitowoc; numerous nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Schmatz, husband, Harold "Mac" McDonnell, siblings and their spouses to include Art and Marilyn Schmatz, Marion and Jim Dhein, Joe Schmatz, Bob and Delores Schmatz, Milt Hassemer, and Ray Musial.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the memorial services a luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc at a later date. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
