Gravesite Details

The graves of William, his wife Elizabeth, and his son Moses are about two miles from Wardensville on the farm of E. W. Garrett. Large trees are in and around the graves. The head stones are still legible In 1942.

You can't see it in this picture, but when at the cemetery you can make out that this is William's stone.

Family marker erected in Wardensville, WV in 1953 by Wilson family members. Located on actual burial site for William, Elizabeth, and Moses I.

Both were buried in the family cemetery on their farm, now known as the "Old Meetinghouse Graveyard". The cemetery is located on the east bank of Trount Run on the E. W. Garret farm (1970), one mile southwest of Wardensville on State Route 55. It is related that a public road once passed by and there was a meetinghouse or church at the cemetery, but there is no trace of either today. The graves of William, Elizabeth and two year old son, Moses, were originally marked by rough field stones with crude but legible lettering of names and dates.
