Phyllis A. Smick

Phyllis Ann Smick, 81, of Rochester, died on October 10, 2020 at Madonna Towers, Rochester, Minnesota.

Phyllis Ann Kreher was born October 15, 1938 in Arcadia, Wisconsin to John A. and Lenora H. (Servais) Kreher.

She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1956. On September 12, 1959 she married Donald R. Smick at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, Wisconsin. Donald and Phyllis celebrated 60 years of marriage in September 2019.

Phyllis was a stay-at-home Mom, until her youngest daughters entered elementary school. She was employed with IBM Rochester from 1972-1998, receiving the 25th Recognition of Service Awards.

Phyllis was a true crafter, concentrating on her beadwork, ceramics, quilting and stain glass pieces. She was always interested in trying new hobbies and expressing her artistic style. Phyllis and Donald were inseparable with driving to and from IBM, having lunch together, traveling and spending the evening watching the Boston Red Sox on T. V.

Phyllis is survived by her four daughters, Dr. Annette Smick (Randy Johnson), Maureen Smick, Kay (Darwin) Buckentin and Lee Smick (Sandra Dussart); two grandsons, Jacob and Cole Buckentin; brother, Allen Kreher and sister-in-law, Nancy Smick; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald on January 20, 2020; her parents, John A. and Lenora H. Kreher; siblings, Arlene (Marvin), Lavern (Lorraine) Kreher, sister-in-law, Marjorie Kreher and brother-in-law Mark Smick.

Donald and Phyllis will have a joint funeral and memorial service at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, Wisconsin. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, burial will be at the church cemetery at a later date.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Seasons Hospice House, Mayo Hospice and Madonna Towers.
