Obituary for Arlene Marie Blank
Arlene Marie Blank, age 93, of Fountain City, died on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at St. Michael's Assisted Living of Fountain City. She was born on August 1, 1922 in Arcadia a daughter of John and Lenora (Servais) Kreher. Arlene graduated in 1940 from Arcadia High School and then attended and graduated from the Buffalo County Normal School in Alma in 1942. It was on June 28, 1949 that Arlene was united in marriage to Marvin E. Blank in Arcadia. To this union 4 children were born. Marvin preceded Arlene in death on August 14, 1998. Following graduation for Normal school Arlene taught at many different one room school houses throughout Buffalo County. She would work side by side helping her husband on their dairy farm in Yaeger Valley while providing a loving and caring home for Marvin and her children.

Arlene was a long time employee of the US Postal service, working at Post offices in Cochrane, Fountain City finishing her career at La Crosse Post Office. She was a proud member of the American Postal Workers Union, APWU where she paid her dues right up to this year. She was a volunteer at “Ye Olde School House in Buffalo City and was a 4-H leader for several years.

Arlene will be remembered for so many wonderful things, some of which will be her beanie frogs, an accomplished seamstress and tending to her gardens, but mostly for her famous apple bars.

Arlene will be sadly missed by her children, Carol Wald of Winona, Judy Dublin of Tomah, Dale (Peggy) Blank of Yaeger Valley and Bonnie (Robert) Kirksey, of Hoover, AL; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brother Allen (Marjorie) Kreher of Fountain City; sister Phyllis (Don) Smick of Rochester, MN; sister in law, Eva Blank of Buffalo City; also by nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Marvin, Arlene was preceded in death by her brother and sister in law Laverne and Lorraine Kreher and brother in law, Willard Blank.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Cochrane Chapel. Burial will follow at the Yaeger Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until the time of the service at the Funeral Home.
