Adeline B. Gorte, age 85, of 5424 Brunner Road, Manitowoc, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
Funeral services will be held at 7pm on Thursday, March 21, 2002, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Victor Headrick with burial at Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan.
She was born Oct. 3, 1916, in the town of Eaton, daughter of the late John and Minnie Nagel Busse. Adeline was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1935. On April 30, 1941, she married Henry Gorte at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1977. Adeline was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She was also a volunteer for the Anchor Pregnancy Center an a charter member of the English Lake Homemakers Club.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law; Christine and Victor Voigt, Reedsville; three sons and daughters-in-law; Richard and Betty Gorte, Manitowoc; Fred and Mary Gorte, Manitowoc; Raymond and Denice Gorte, Philadelphia, PA; seven grandchildren; Colleen (Rob) Fadool, Michigan; Mark (Tara) Gorte, Manitowoc; Nicole Gorte, Manitowoc; the Rev. Michael (Rebecca) Gorte, Akaska, SD; Gretchen Gorte, Madison; Cpl. Christopher Gorte, Norfolk, VA; Amanda Gorte, Manitowoc; four great grandchildren; Austin and Madison Gorte, Jadin Grenier, Melinda Fadool; a sister-in-law; Etta Busse, Manitowoc; and a special cousin, Alvina Bramer, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Busse.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, from 4:30pm Thursday until the time of service at 7pm.
