Martin Anderson
Abt 1846 - 1936

Martin Anderson was believed to be about 90 years old at the time he passed from this life January 2, 1936, at Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah. His death certificate and commitment papers state he was a widower, occupation, names of parents, and spouse unknown. A former resident of Hyde Park, Utah, Martin had been a patient for two years, two months, and eight days at the time he died.
Utah State Hospital Forgotten Patients Cemetery Project: Martin was among 600+ patients of the Utah Territorial Insane Asylum (now known as Utah State Hospital) between 1886 and 1960, buried in the Provo City Cemetery, most in unmarked graves, given a pauper's burial, alone without recognition or ceremony. The Utah State Hospital Forgotten Patients Cemetery Project requested donations to create a monument with individual plaques to honor each of these precious spirits. Thankfully, it was completed and dedicated to them October 10, 2018, in Provo City Cemetery.
