Abt 1879 - 1929
Ruth Adams was believed to be about 50 years old when she passed from this life August 27, 1929, at Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah. A former resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, her commitment papers and death certificate state Ruth was a widow, parents and spouse unknown, and had been a patient one year, seven months, and three days.
Utah State Hospital Forgotten Patients Cemetery Project: Ruth was among 600+ patients of the Utah Territorial Insane Asylum (now known as Utah State Hospital) between 1886 and 1960, buried in the Provo City Cemetery, most in unmarked graves, given a pauper's burial, alone without recognition or ceremony. The Utah State Hospital Forgotten Patients Cemetery Project requested donations to create a monument with individual plaques to honor each of these precious spirits. Thankfully, it was completed and dedicated to them October 10, 2018, in Provo City Cemetery.
