William Lowther Bolsover is believed to have changed his surname like three of his six siblings to Mundy between 1838-1841.
William Lowther was married twice using the surname Mundy his first marriage was to Maria Hannah Hilton in 1847 the children of their union were:-

In around 1856 William Lowther left his wife Maria for her cousin Hannah Cheetham who he eventually married in 1869 two weeks after the death of Maria Hannah. Their union produced the following children:-
Frances Cheetham
Mary Mundy Cheetham
Stephen Mundy Cheetham
Margaret Mundy
Harriet Mundy
Harry Mundy
Fanny Pine Apple Mundy
Frederick Mundy
Herbert Mundy
Bertha Florence Mundy
Adeline Mundy
The three children with the surnames Cheetham did eventually drop that surname in favour of their father's adopted surname Mundy.
Modern day DNA testing has now revealed that William Lowther was actually the biological son of William Mundy.
William Lowther followed his father William Mundy into the pub trade and is known to have been the landlord of The Punch Bowl at 77 Chapel Street in Salford, The Duke of York at 43 Frederick Street, Greengate Salford and The Pine Apple Inn at Gorton Brook.
After he retired from the pub trade William Lowther moved to Adswood Villa.
He is buried with his father William Mundy.
