George Bolsover, who was buried on the 7th September 1854, was the first husband of Sarah Longson he was the son of Jonathan Bolsover and Esther Langton. George, who also used the name George Langton Bolsover, was a surgeon by occupation. In 1838, he was tried and acquitted in relation to a charge of Manslaughter, after the trial he remained in Liverpool for a time before eventually returning to Heaton Norris. By 1841 Sarah had left George and taken up with William Mundy, changing the surnames of their children to Mundy in order to make it look as though they were the offspring of William Mundy and not George (DNA testing has now revealed that William and Sarah had at least two children). George continued to work as a surgeon after the 1838 incident he died in 1854. Sarah and William eventually married in 1856 two years after the death of George Bolsover.

The children of George Bolsover and Sarah Longson are according to baptism records:-
Harriet Bolsover (Buxton) born about 1819
William Lowther Bolsover aka Mundy born 1824
John Bolsover aka Mundy born 1828
Mary Bolsover born about 1831
Margaret Bolsover aka Mundy (Jennison) born 1832
Stephen Bolsover aka Mundy born 1834

Note DNA testing has now revealed that two of the above children were the offspring of Sarah Longson & William Mundy despite all of six of Sarah's children bearing the Bolsover name at birth. William Mundy claimed that he fathered five of Sarah's children and the wording on the grave of George Bolsover would appear to suggest this also.
