PERRYTON - Darrell James Naylor, 61, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Richard Laverty officiating. Burial will be in Bluemound Cemetery in Balko, Okla., by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mr. Naylor was born Oct. 24, 1944, in Perryton, Ochiltree County. Darrell graduated from Balko High School in May 1962. He attended Clarendon Junior College and Oklahoma Panhandle State University and was attending architectural school when he was drafted in the Army on April 19, 1966, during the Vietnam Conflict. Darrell was a Private E-4 with a specialty of light weapons infantry man. Darrell was injured in combat on April 14, 1967. He received the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Badge and Vietnam Service Medal. Darrell had been cared for by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Naylor in their home in Perryton for 38 years.
Survivors include his parents of Perryton; a sister, Belva Witt and husband, Leslie, of Perryton; a brother, Dale Naylor and wife, Jacqueline, of Balko; two nephews; three nieces; two great-nephews; six great-nieces; and a large extended family.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
