He died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday in Lubbock Hospitality House after a brief illness.
He was born in El Dorado, Okla., and moved from Ralls to Lubbock in 1965. He married Marie Willard on July 30, 1948, in Ralls. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Eleanor Dobkins of Lubbock; two stepsons, Willard Tolbert of Lubbock and Lawayne Tolbert of Amarillo; two brothers, Dee of Kalgary and L.C. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven grandchildren;and 15 great grandchildren.
