Irma Mae Thietje was born May 11, 1918, at Fedora, SD, to Oscar and Mamie (Dehne) Greene. She grew up at Fedora and graduated from Fedora High School as class valedictorian. She moved to Mitchell and graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1939. She married Louis Clemensen July 21, 1940 in Mitchell.
For thirty-two years she was a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital and was the daytime supervisor. Irma was a member of the Lutheran Church and then the Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Methodist Hospital Alumni Association, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mayflower Society and also helped compile and publish the history book of Fedora for Territorial Days. She enjoyed quilting, genealogy, stamps and coin collecting and gardening.
She married Lyle Thietje October 18, 1976 in Mitchell.
She is survived by two daughters: Donna Hotz and husband, Larry of Mount Vernon, IA, Peggy Van Overschelde and Larry Koster of Mitchell; one son, John Clemensen and wife, Cathy of Atkins, IA; one daughter-in-law, Georgia Clemensen of Beatty, NV; two grandsons, Brian Clemensen and Bradley Clemensen, two step-grandsons, Michael Koster and Patrick Koster and ten-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis and Lyle, one son Pete, one grandson, Matt Hotz, and one great granddaughter Caitlin Clemensen.
