Maynard N. Rieck, 23, of Rt. 1. Newton, died Tuesday at a rooming house at Fond du Lac. Cause of death had not been determined Wednesday but Rieck had a heart condition. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stoltenberg Funeral Chapels, Cleveland. The Rev. Merlin Huebschman of United Church of Christ, Spring Valley, will officiate, and burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Sheboygan.
Mr. Rieck was born May 10, 1940, in the Town of Centerville. son of Wilfred and Lilah Kolb Rieck. He attended Lincoln Elementary School at Erdman, Sheboygan County, Sheboygan . Central High School two years and was graduated in 1958 from Kiel High School. He married Phyllis Benmn at Spring Valley July 11, 1959, and the couple resided at Sheboygan until 1960, moving to Spring Valley.
He had been employed by Schuette Construction Co. of Manitowoc and had been working on a road project at Fond du Lac. He was presented with the Silver Beaver, highest award in Boy Scouting, by the Kettle Moraine Boy Scout Council of Sheboygan County when he saved his father's life July 5, 1955, after his father came in contact with live electric wire on the home farm. Maynard was 14 at the time and a member of Explorer Post 62. He applied artificial respiration.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Lori Lynn, and a son, Michael John, at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Rieck, of Rt. 1, Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Stauber, of Sheboygan and Miss Ramona Rieck, at home; paternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rieck, of Rt. 1, Newton; maternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kolb of Cleveland and the paternal great grandfather, Herman Bergner, of Cleveland.
