WILFORD PIERCE
Wilford Pierce, 74, 133 E. 800 S.. Orem, died Tuesday afternoon of a heart ailment. He was born Oct. 18, 1897 to Amas Ephraim and Maria Ann Jakeman Pierce. He married Alice Alvey on Nov. 17, 1917 in Richfield, Sevier County, Utah. He is a member of the LDS Church. The family made their first home in Vermillion, Sevier County, where he was employed for the Jumbo Plaster Company, Sigurd. He worked as a farmer and as a trucker. He worked at the Topaz Concentration Camp during World War II. The family moved to Orem on June 19, 1942. He worked for Woods and Decker and Cox Construction companies while in Orem. He worked for Orem City for many years, and served as Orem City Water Superintendent for part of this time. He retired Feb. 2, 1969. Since his retirement he has been a part-time employee of Brown Heating and Plumbing. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his widow of Orem; and nine children:

Daughter-in-law Mrs. Mason (Janie) Wheeler; 36 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. AM. (Effie) Jacobs, Mrs. William (Theora) McQuillian, both of Provo; Mrs. David (Romenia) Tanner, Myton, Utah.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Orem 4th Ward Chapel, 575 S. 400 W. Bishop Arvid Dodge will officiate. Friends may call at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary, Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour before services. Burial will be in Orem City Cemetery.
