Mary was married to Joseph Edward McPherson in 1851, and together they had 8 children, or possibly 9 children.

McPherson--At the residence of her son-in-law, A.P. Patrick, on June 5, Mrs. M.F. McPherson, relict of the late Joseph McPherson, chief factor of the Hudson Bay Company. The funeral will take place from Mr. Patrick's residence on Sunday, the 7th instant, at 2 p.m., to the Calgary cemetery.

Mrs. McPherson, whose demise we chronicled yesterday, was a sister of Lady Smith, wife of Sir Donald A. Smith, High Commissioner of Canada and England, and also of the late Senator Hardisty. She spent a number of years in Labrador, where her husband was Chief Factor in the Hudson Bay Company's services. They then removed to Pictou, N.S., where they built a magnificent home, but after the death of her husband she removed to the North West with her family. Three sons and one daughter, Mrs. Patrick, survives. She was 63 years of age.

She passed away at her daughter, Marguerite Charlotte McPherson Patrick residence in Calgary.

Mary was sixth child, third daughter, of ten children of HBC Chief Factor Richard Hardisty and Marguerite Sutherland. She was named after after her grandmother on her parental side.

Mary married Joseph Edward McPherson (1830 - 1873), Chief Trader, Hudson Bay Company in circa 1851, Fort Simpson (HBC), Mackenzie River District, Northwest Territories.

From this union there was seven known children; five males and two females.
