Mildred Ellen McDaniel, 68, of Wetmore died Wednesday April 26 in a Topeka hospital where she was admitted Feb. 24. She was a cancer victim. She was born April 25, 1910, at Muses Mill, Ky., and had spent much of her life in Nemaha County near Wetmore. Mrs. McDaniel was a dressmaker by trade and worked in Holton at the Slimaker Dress Factory.
She married George W. McDaniel at Hiawatha on Feb. 25, 1928. He died Dec. 26, 1976.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lou Ketter of Topeka, Shirley Whitebread of Boulder City, Nev., and Beckie Kern of Tulsa, Okla; two sons of George McDaniel of Winchester and Robert McDaniel of Wetmore. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Ernest McQueen of Horton, Alma Moulden of Netawaka and Lorena Licklter of Phoenix, Ariz., one brother Jack Jones of Gonazlez, La. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held in Mercer Funeral Home with Rev. Roy N. West officiating. The organist was Mrs. Robert Pfrang. She and Mrs. Harold Achten, Jr., sang "Blessed Memories" and "How Great Thou Art." The pallbearers were Jerry Cox, Ed Smith, Norman Spiker, Harold McDaniel, Floyd McDaniel and Marvin Johnson. The burial was in the Wetmore Cemetery.
