Dies Suddenly of Hear Trouble While Visiting His Son in Lousiville.
The following is from the Louisville Courier-Journal of the 16th inst.:
"William H. Grant, a prosperous farmer of Boone county and father of Dr. W.E. Grant, of Louisville, was stricken with an attack of heart disease on a westbound Walnut street car at Preston and Walnut streets yesterday morning at 9 o'clock and died shortly after in Vander Espt's drug store, Preston and Walnut streets, where he was removed from the car. Mr. Grant came to Louisville about two weeks ago on a visit to his son, Dr. W. E. Grant, who resides on Longest avenue, near Cherokee Park. He lived in Petersburg.
"Dr. Grant and his father boarded the car to go down town shortly before 9 o'clock yesterday morning. Dr. Grant was on his way to his office, while his father intended to visit an number of relatives. When the car was nearing Preston street Mr. Grant complained of feeling faint, and , uttering a cry, sank back unconscious.
"The car was stopped at Preston street and the stricken man carried into Vander Espt's drug store, where he died a few minutes later. Dr. H. H. Grant and W. Ed Grant, his nephews (Ray's note: son's of Elijah Lane Grant, his brother), were also called, but when they reached the scene found that Mr. Grant was beyond medical aid. The body was taken to Pearson's undertaking establishment, Third avenue and Chestnut street, where the funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at four o'clock, the Rev. Lloyd T. Wilson officiating. The body was sent to Petersburg last night for burial.
"Mr. Grant was eighty-three years of age and had lived in Boone county all of his life. six sons-Dr. W.E. Grant, of Louisville; Dr. J. M. Grant of Petersburg; Dr. R.L. Grant, of Texas, and Thomas F., Homer, Ben B. and E.A. Grant, of Boone county, and a daughter, Mrs. S. E. Terrill, also of Boone county, survive him.""
