Ronald Tews, 58, of Ottumwa, passed away Jan. 1, 2013, at Ottumwa Hospice in Ottumea. Ronald was born Feb. 14, 1954, in Sioux City; he was the son of Donald and Dorothy Tews. On June 10, 1995, Ron was united in marriage with Monica Barr at Scranton. Ronald grew up in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1972. He made his home at Des Moines, Lincoln, Davenport and Ottumwa. He worked in automotive aftermarket sales for several years and held various managment positions at Firestone before becoming a stay-at-home dad when his daughter Maci was born. Ron enjoyed watching sports and the History Channel, fishing, traveling, golfing, collecting and music. Special moments for him include going to baseball games, Rolling Stones concerts and the Super Bowl in 2012 with his daughter Maggie. He cherished the time spent with family.. Our Daughters Maggie and Maci. Ron is survived by his wife, Monica Tews of Ottumwa; daughters, Maggie(Jeff)Chadiha of Overland Park, Kan., Maci Tews of Ottumwa, Heather Sanderson and Kris Ensley Noll; a grandson, Jayven Chadiha; his mother, Dorothy; brothers, Tracy and Brian; Monica's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Barr of Scranton; a brother-in-law, Jeff Barr of West Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Karen(Pat)Murphy of Jefferson and Shelly(Todd)TerHark of Algona; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Donna.
Funeral services will be 11 am today at the United Methodist Church in Scranton; with Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Interment will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of service today at the United Methodist Church in Scranton. The Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton is in charge of arrangements.
