Son of Mearl A. and Lorraine (Sauget) Justus. He was the Sheriff of St. Clair County IL from 1982 to 2012. Prior to that he worked for the Cahokia IL police department for 29 years, serving as its Police Chief for the last 20 of those years. He had just most recently resigned from the position of St. Clair County Sheriff when he died.
