Donald L. Justus, 81, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born July 15, 1927, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Justus retired from Cahokia School District 187. He was a longtime member and past president of the St. Louis Auto Racing Association, a member of Cahokia Moose Lodge 423, and was a Korean War U.S. Army Air Corp veteran. He was an avid race fan, former Sprint car owner, and a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mearl A. Justus and Lorraine, nee Sauget, Justus Gutscher; a sister, Eliene Justus; his former wife, Adele M., nee Eugea, Justus; and longtime companion and friend, Mary Lou Chinn.
Surviving are his daughter, Eliene (Ray) Herderhorst of Cahokia, Ill.; a grandson, Trevor (fiancee Tiffany Durbin) Herderhorst of Cahokia, Ill.; a brother, Mearl J. (Audrey) Justus of Belleville, Ill.; and a very good friend, Lou Hess of Belleville, Ill. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
