"Davis Cemetery on the Ortic Inn Farm, Dave Davis was a soldier,served his time in the U.S.Army died and was buried in this cemetery.
His father, Thomas Davis was a Mexican War soldier and is buried in this cemetery. He served in Company K 2nd Ohio Infantry, Mexican War, and has a Gov. Monument. Thomas Davis owned the land. Wm. Lodges bought it and then sold it to Mr. Citro about 1920 and called it the
Ortic farm. There is about 15 or 20 people buried in the cemetery.
Information obtained from Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith who lives east and south of the Citro farm." The workers gave the following description of the cemetery: "This cemetery is situated south of Hard Road #4 about 1/4 of a mile south of Hard road, west of the Citro Lake upon a hill,
soutwest of recreation building about 220 ft. There are only two stones that can be seen, but Mr.Smith says there are 15 or 20 people buried there. One of the stones is the Gov. Marker of Thomas Davis, a Mexican War soldier. The other stone has the name of Friend on ti, the wife of T.J.Friend." This paper also had the name of Jonathan L
Jennings on it but no other information about him, perhaps he was the person who made the report? (This last note by Evelyn Bettis *Frey).
The Death Record of Thomas Davis from Macoupin County, Illinois found in Register 2 page 24 record number 4454 March 16, 1903 states that he had Chronic Intestinal nephritis, myocarditis, sinility and that the cause of his death was "Uraemia". Dr. J.P. Denby M.D. was his physician who recorded this information. It also stated that he was
buried on 18 March 1903.
