Mary Matilda HERSEY was born in Crystal Plantation which borders the town of Patten. Both are in Penobscot Co, Maine. She married Luther Bailey ROGERS, son of Luther & Hannah (BAILEY) ROGERS, on 16d 2m 1865 in Patten. She died no doubt from complications of childbirth following the birth of their daughter Matilda Hersey ROGERS in 1866 who was her only child. Luther then married (2nd) by 1870 to Mary Elizabeth BARKER and had more children with her.
