Laverel L. Vogel, 78, of 1105 Elm St., Cleveland, died Thursday afternoon, March 11, at Memorial Hospital, Sheboygan, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleveland. The Rev. Henry F. Koch will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Vogel was born July 15, 1903, in the Town of Centerville, son of the late Herman and Bertha Kolb Vogel. He married Norma Lutze Aug. 9, 1930. The couple resided at Cleveland where Mr. Vogel owned and operated Vogel Lumber Company until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Adults Club, and served on the church council. He was also a member of Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, Cleveland Fire Department, and Wisconsin Retail Lumbermen Association.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; two sons, Lloyd and Wayne of Cleveland; a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Grace) Jaeger of Route 1, Cleveland; a brother, Howard Vogel of Cleveland; eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, Cleveland, after 4 p.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday, and at the church from noon until the hour of services. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
