Merl C. Busse, age 78, of 416 S. 30th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, January 14, 1998, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 1998, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. Rev. Bruce Bitter will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born March 4, 1919, in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, son of the late August and Elizabeth Streckert Busse.
He attended Lincoln High School graduating with the Class of 1937.
He entered the United States Army serving with the Army Signal Corps overseas for 3 1/2 years. After his tour of duty, he returned to Manitowoc and started his own business. The Busse Radio Doctor, which he operated until the early 1960's. He then became employed with Erdmann Ford and later Hamachek Buick where he retired from.
On October 19, 1949, he married Phyllis Fehring at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
Merl was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church, where he had previously served on the church council. He was also a member of the AMVETS Post #99.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Donald Krupp, Kiel; two granddaughters, Andrea Voland and Abbie Voland; one sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Myron Cegielski, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at First German Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to First German Ev. Lutheran Church or School.
