Lyle was born June 24, 1925, in Mitchell, NE the son of the late James and Velma (Harrison) Cate. Lyle served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Gas Turbine Services in East Granby after many years and continued to work at Turbine Engine Services in Windsor Locks and Enterprise Car Rental.
Lyle was a parishioner of St. Mary Church, a 25 year member of the Windsor Locks Lions Club, the American Legion Gensi-Viola Post 36 of Windsor Locks and a Justice of the Peace.
Lyle was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy (Bishop) Cate and a son, Todd Moore.
Burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
