The son of Isadore Caprari & Luigia "Louisa" (DePoali) Caprari. At time of birth his father was a railroad worker, both parents born in Italy, residents of Florida, Mass.

Former Hoosac Tunnel Resident Enlisted While Junior at Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls
Sgt Lawrence R Caprari, 19, son of Mrs Louise Caprari of 107 Corinth street and the late Doro Caprari, formerly of Hoosac Tunnel, who previously was reported missing in action in Italy since April 15, was killed in action on that date, according to word received from the War department yesterday. He had been serving with the 85th company of the 10th Mountain infantry division of the 5th Army in Italy.
Sgt. Caprari enlisted in the army in June, 1943, and received training at Camp Hale, Colo., and Camp Swift, Texas, before going overseas. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantryman's Badge for his excellent performance of duty in the Moutn Beivedere campaign.
A native of Hoosac Tunnell, Sgt Caprari attended the school there and was a member of the junior class at Arms academy in Shelburne Falls at the time of his enlistment.
Besides his mother, he leaves three brothers, Pvt. 1st Class William Caprari, who is stationed at Fort Devens after returning from 28 months of service in the China-Burma-India theater, Olympio of this city, and Aldo of Honolulu, Hawaii and three sisters, Mrs Owen Buckey and Miss Lillian Caprari of this city and Mrs Jeannie Paoleti, whose husband, Pvt 1st Class Joseph R Paoleti died in service Feb. 13, 1945 in Hawaii. Funeral of Soldier Killed in Italy Held at St. Anthony's Church - Veterans Pay Honors.

Solemn military funeral services for Sgt. Lawrence R. Caprari, son of Mrs. Louisa Caprari of 107 Corinth street, who was killed in Italy on April 15, 1945, took place in St. Anthony's church at 9 o'clock this morning, with Rev. Richard Roccapriore, the pastor, officiating at the requiem mass. The choir sang "Missa Pro Defunctis" and the national anthem after mass, while the offertory solo. "Pie Jesu," was sung by Mrs. Rose Raymond. The organ recessional, Tschaikowsky's "On the Death of a Hero." was played by Mrs. Gabriel Ronco. Burial was in the family lot in Southview cemetery, with Fr. Roccapriore officiating at the grave. Active bearers were Edward Neuman, Guido Libardoni, Romeo Paoletti, Arthur Mowe, Raymond Burdick and Merritt Burdick. Honorary bearers include E. Joseph Celantano, past commander of the VFW. Hector B. Major, Arthur Morris, John B. Rosasco, Jr., John Cummings, Leeward Cairmore, and Charles O'Brien, Sgt. 1st Class Robert B. Kelder of the Army Escort detachment was the military escort. Full military honors were accorded by the American Legion and V.F.W. post. The color bearers were Mark Murray and Joseph Marino and the color guard included Harold Sharron and David Beall with Victor G. J. Major as chaplain and Philip Martel and Leo LaValley as buglers. Leo LaValley and Saleem Nassif were drummers. The firing squad, directed by Hugh Taylor, included Richard Durkee, Gerard Burke, Michael Lebert, Ernest Lucier, Mark Murray, John Saulnier and David Beall.
