He was born in England on February 13, 1885, a son of Matthew and Emma Lewis Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was a retired miner.
Surviving are his three sons, Ralph, address unknown, Louis of Morris Run, and Robert of Elkland; three daughters, Mrs. Eva Simons, of Corning, N.Y., Mrs. Shirley Wright, of Elmira, N.Y., and Mrs. Gerald Maloney, of Waverly, N.Y., 20 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Friday at the Auld Funeral Home, 120 North Williamson Road, Blossburg. Burial was in Arbon Cemetery, Blossburg.
The Rev. Guy Camp, pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Blossburg officiated.
