Born July 17, 1916, departed this life May 10, 2008 at the age of 91 years and 8 months. Don was a deacon at Ridgetop Baptist Church. Don's first wife, Thelma Long Haggerty, departed this life in 1993. To this union two daughters were born. Donna Haggerty Pearson (deceased) had one son, Chawa Pearson (a US Marine in South Carolina). Chawa and his wife, Bernice, have twin daughters. Don has one daughter surviving him, Terri S. Haggerty and partner Sarah Haggerty and their son, Jacob Haggerty. Don is also survived by his wife, Pearl; daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Bill Jackson of Houston; son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Susie Bryson of Fredericksburg; three sisters, Maxine Robbins of Houston, Dorothy Carpenter of Mathis and Faye Haggerty of Corpus Christi; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; 10 step grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; and many, many friends and acquaintances. Don married Pearl Haggerty in 1994 in Austin where they have resided since September 17, 1994. Don had a long battle with heart trouble and diabetes for many years, which finally took his life. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13th at Ridgetop Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers, you may give memorials to Ridgetop Baptist Church, 708 E. 51st St, Austin, TX 78751, Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78759 or a charity of your choice.
