On the 3rd of July, 1810, Rev. James was united in marriage to Miss Jane Wilson, daughter of Captain Archibald Wilson of Newark, Ohio and removed soon after to what was then the village of Clinton in Morris Twp. In 1828 they moved to Mt.Vernon, and in 1829, to the house on Wooster Avenue, still occupied by a portion of his family in the 1890's.
James and Jane Scott had seven children; Josiah Wilson, who died when abot 3 years old; Abraham C., now an eminent physician residing in Bladensburg, Ann V., Margaret J., Mary, James Foster, who was a soldier in the Mexican War and died in that country in 1847, and Felicia, who married William Tulloss. Mr. Tolloss died in 1866.
