Franklin Herman "Frank" Butterfield

Franklin Herman Butterfield passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at his home in Provo, Utah. Frank was born in Riverton, Utah, on April 19, 1926, to Edwin Leslie and Amy Camelia Winters Butterfield.

He joined the United States Navy in World War II and later served a mission for the LDS Church in Argentina. He graduated with a BS from the University of Utah, and a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University.

Frank married Ruth Emma Pawlowski in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 2, 1954. Ruth passed away on October 15, 1996. He opened his legal practice in Orem which included serving as the Orem City Attorney and Deputy Utah County Attorney. He loved fishing the Provo River.

He was active in the LDS Church and served in various capacities including the high council. His favorite assignments were being a faithful home teacher and a temple worker for 25 years serving in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temples.

Frank married Maria Elena Coronado in the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple on November 21, 1997. He loved the Hispanic culture and visited Mexico many times. He loved to visit Guadalajara and especially loved the Mariachi music.

Frank is survived by his wife, Maria; four sons: Vince Butterfield, of Milton, WA; Fred Butterfield,of Roosevelt, UT; Bryan Butterfield, of Frisco, TX; and Jay Butterfield, of Springville, UT; five stepsons: Hector Rafael Gonzales, Mario Esteban Gonzales, Abner Abinadab Gonzales, Giezi Josafath Gonzales, and Jair Jahaziel Gonzales, all of Utah County; one sister, Vilate Terry, of Provo, UT and 27 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008. at the Freedom 1st Ward Chapel, 888 South Freedom Blvd., Provo, UT. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center, Provo, UT and from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be at the *Provo City Cemetery.

*Frank was originally to be buried with his first wife, Ruth, in Orem City Cemetery. He has a headstone there he shares with her that has now become a cenotaph.
