Carl was born 6 June 1970 in Denver, Denver, Colorado. He was raised in Denver, Colorado and moved to Utah after high school graduation. He was working as the mechanics teacher at Moutainland Applied Technical College in Heber, Utah. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was survived by his parents, Don and Bonnie Brantley of Utah, his brothers, Tim and Steven of Utah,and a sister, Lorrie Stanker of Denver, Colorado. He passed away at his home in Orem, Utah from a pulmonary embolism following knee surgery.
