Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary for John E. Fowler, 35, who died in a mine accident at Jonesville, Alaska, on Friday, Jan. 18. Don Nielson, minister of Orem Church of Christ, officiated.
Mr. Fowler, a brother of Ines Teague and Jess Fowler of Pleasant Grove, was born in Snow, Oklahoma and went to Alaska in 1946 where he has been engaged in mining.
Speakers were Herman Teague, who gave a life sketch and Sam Fowler, a brother.
Special music was a vocal trio Stella Hardman, Viola Beers and Hazel Bullock, accompanied by Katherine Rees, who sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Sometime We'll Understand," and a vocal chorus, H. A. Dean, Olie Laughlin, Mrs. Earl Brown, Mrs. Don Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Banks.
Burial was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with the American Legion Post No. 70 directing military service. Honor guard included Glen Matthews, Robert Holdaway, A. B. Gibson, Sherman Varney, Norman Stott, Arlo Walker, Mickey Taylor and Robert Cornaby.
Rev. Don Nielson offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers were Bert and Jack Alexander, Bill and Owen Fowler, Bud and Herman Teague.
Beside the brother and sister mentioned, he is survived by Sam Fowler, Anchorage, Alaska; Ott Fowler, Mimbres, New Mexico; Mrs. Edrie Heaton, Cortez, Colo.; Iona Kirk, Modesto, Calif.; Oscar Fowler, Superior, Arizona; Ethel Kinsey, Palisades, Idaho and Baxter Fowler, Modesto, Calif.
