Freda Amell
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, in St. Cecilia Catholic Church for Freda Amell, who died Dec. 31, 1998, at age 95. Mrs. Amell was born June 25, 1903, in Park Rapids, Minn., and moved to Beaverton in 1911. Her maiden name was Zimbrick. She graduated from Beaverton High School in 1922. She was a homemaker and a member of the church, where she led a youth group for many years. She also had been a cook for Dairyland in Beaverton for about five years in the 1950s. She moved to Sherwood in 1963 and later to Wilsonville and then Beaverton. In 1925, she married Vernon; he died in 1992. Survivors include her daughters, Arlene Meyer of Beaverton, Annette Engle of Mulino, Nancy Chaput of Tigard and Linda McCarthy of Gresham; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard. The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Young's Funeral Home in Tigard. (The Oregonian, 05 Jan 1999)
