David W. Ide reluctantly left this world on Feb. 19, 2011, at the age of 54.

David was a beloved husband to his wife of 32 years, Nancy, and doting and proud father to his daughters, Katie and Jennifer. His companionship was also cherished by his loyal dog, Sam.

David was fortunate to be loved by his late mother, Janis Fontana, as well as two fathers: William Ide, who raised him, and David Hentzel, with whom he had recently reconnected. He will be dearly missed by his sisters, Angie Colby (Jeff) and Stacey Simpson (Tom); his brother, Jim Ide (Beth); and his sisters-in-law, Jamie Leigh (Bob Cherry) and Kelly Shepherd; as well as his nieces, nephews and many friends.

David was a fun-loving, generous man who loved his wife and daughters with his whole heart. He loved live music, especially Jimmy Buffett concerts, and enjoyed playing his guitar and visiting New Orleans. His family will miss the sound of his laugh and his lighthearted sense of humor.

David graduated from Springfield High School in 1975 and from University of Illinois at Springfield in 1983. He was a senior accountant with Thompson Coburn LLP in St. Louis.

Services were conducted Wednesday, February 23, at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Mo.
