Lucille M. Meyer, age 92, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, Feb. 20, 2003.
She was born May 1, 1910, in Town Rhine, a daughter of the late Paul and Erma (Eimermann) Kissinger. Lucille attended Dewey school until eighth grade, then worked in Sheboygan at the home of Dr. Guetsch, a medical doctor where she added to her skills as a good cook and hostess.
On June 28, 1941, Lucille Kissinger and Elmer Meyer, son of the late Robert and Alma Meyer, were united in marriage at St. Johns United Church of Christ-Schwartzwald. After honeymooning out West, the couple settled in Sheboygan. They moved to Ada in 1951. During their courtship, Lucille worked for her aunt and uncle, Nilda and John Kissinger, who owned and operated the Rhine Center Restaurant, dance hall, livery and blacksmith shop. While living in Ada, Lucille worked many years as an Avon representative.
She enjoyed friends and family gatherings. She belonged to several card clubs and a birthday club composed of former Sheboygan neighbors.
Lucille was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ-Schwartzwald, where she was a former member of the womens guild, having served as both secretary and past president. She loved music and sang tenor and alto in the choir for many years. Lucille also enjoyed playing hymns and Christmas carols on her organ at home. She enjoyed gardening, especially their raspberry farm, growing gladiolas and dahlias. She always made bread, and in her later years, knitted many afghans. After Elmer retired, the couple traveled to Alaska, Germany and Hawaii. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was wonderful to know. Her wisdom and love live on in those who knew her well.
Surviving Lucille is her husband of 61 years, Elmer of Sheboygan Falls; daughters, Joan Ehrenreich of Mosinee and Nancy (Gerry) Guenther of Pardeeville; and four grandchildren, Kyle Ehrenreich, Kevin Ehrenreich, Joel Guenther and Emily Guenther. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Boll; and two brothers, Allen and Elroy Kissinger.
A funeral for Lucille will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at St. Johns United Church of Christ-Schwartzwald in Town Herman, with the Rev. Rebecca A Johnston, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
