Elwood A. "Al" Alvord, 70, of 1938 Route 321, Elbridge, died Tuesday at Community-General Hospital.
A native of Chittenango, Mr. Alvord also lived in Syracuse and Camillus before moving to Elbridge this July. He retired in 1985 as manager of production and inventory control after 44 years with Crouse-Hines Co.
Mr. Alvord was a member of the Crouse-Hinds 25-Year Club and a former member of Chittenango Lodge, F&AM. He served in the Navy Submarine Service during World War II and was a member of Camillus Post 1540, American Legion.
He was the widower of the former Anne Elizabeth Quick Arnold, who died in 1969.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jane Ohlson; two sons, Gregory of East Greenbush and Alan of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Pamela Spirko of Manlius and Kristi Thomas of Denton, Texas; three stepsons, Craig, David and Steven Gravina, all of Syracuse; a stepdaughter, Christine Deinhart of Elbridge; a brother, Claude of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Annvonette Mohn of Ormond Beach and Phylliss Landers of Baldwinsville; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, Elbridge. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 120 E. Main St.
