Dies Suddenly at a Hospital. Mrs. Emanuel Schneider of Stockbridge Town Collapses after the Birth of a Son Thursday. One of the saddest of recent deaths in this community occurred at St. Agnes' Hospital at Fond du Lac, on Thursday afternoon, April 22nd, at 6:30 o'clock, when Mrs. Emanuel Schneider passed away two hours after giving birth to a son. Mrs. Schneider was in excellent condition before and after the ordeal. She talked with the doctors and nurses and the glad news of the birth was sent to the family at home. Two hours after, she had a sudden sinking spell and died before her husband, who was sent for, could reach her bedside. Lillian Schockmel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas [and Theresa Wettstein] Schockmel, was born in Osceola, Fond du Lac county, March 14, 1890. Her father died when she was two and a half years of age and upon the marriage of her mother to Anton Rott in 1898, she came to Stockbridge town to reside with them. With the exception of a year spent with her uncle, Chas. Wettstein, at Wabeno, this state, her home has been in the western section of Calumet county. On Jan. 25, 1910, she was united in marriage to Emanuel Schneider and they settled on a farm in the town of Stockbridge on which they lived twelve years, then moved to Quinney where they purchased and operated a cheese factory and store. In conducting the business she was a wonderful helpmate, capable and untiring in the advancement of her husband's financial interest and in making the home happy for him and their little family. She was a very popular young woman, beloved by everybody who knew her and never happier than when she was surrounded by her friends. The deepest sorrow is expressed at her passing and the heart of the community goes out in sympathy to the bereft husband and motherless children. The remains were prepared for burial at Fond du Lac and brought to her late home in Quinney on Friday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock where they lay in state until Monday morning when the funeral was held at 9:30 o'clock in St. Mary's church, Stockbridge. Rev. Fr. P.E. Herb officiated at the requiem Mass following which she was laid to rest in St. Mary's cemetery. Six brothers of Mr. Schneider: Jacob, Henry, Joseph, Frank, Charles and Edmund, acting as pallbearers. The funeral was one of the largest held from that church in years and flowers and cards in profusion expressed the sorrow of a legion of friends of the family. She is survived by her husband, 4 children: Lucile, 15 years, Walter 13, Claude 5 and Paul the infant for whom she gave up her young life. She also leaves a brother, Nick Schockmel, of Stockbridge, two sisters, Mrs. Peter Schneider of Merrill, this state, Mrs. Jos. Halfman of Stockbridge and a half-sister Mrs. Jos. Hoffmann of Charlesburg. The Times extends its sympathy to the bereft ones.
