Goode, John H. (Dec. 24, 1843-April 7, 1869 –single –son of William Goode [1807-1887] and Catherine Dukklow [1811-1881] who were both born in County Cork, Ireland –John was born at Toronto, Canada –he was a brother to Mary, Thomas and William Goode Jr. –in 1856, he and his parents moved from Canada to the Town of Charlestown –on April 3, 1865, John purchased the 34.89 acre farm at N3576 County T in Section 21, Town of Charlestown from the widow Elizabeth Potter –John owned this farm until his death in 1869 –this farm was then owned by his father William Goode and then by his brothers Thomas and William Goode Jr.) –buried at the Hayton Hillside Cemetery, Town of CharlestownU.S., Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, 1861-1865

JOHN HENRY GOOD

DIED – At Charlestown, in this county, April 7th, 1869, John Henry Good, aged 27 years.
The deceased was born in Kingston, C.W., December 26th, 1842. When he was 14 years old his parents removed to Charlestown, where they now reside. At the breaking out of the war, John was one of the first to enlist in Capt. Hobart's company for three years which he faithfully served, respected and honored by his officers and comrades. He afterwards became a member of Hancock's Veteran Corps where he remained until honorably discharged. He was a brave soldier, an upright and honorable young man and many, many years will elapse ere the numerous virtues of John H. Good are erased from the memory of his numerous and sincere friends. Requiescat in pace
