Feb. 18.--Mrs. Laura A. Gilliam died Tuesday night at the Meriwether hospital following a short illness with meningitis of the brain. She was to have been operated on, but death came before the operation could be performed. She was 41 years of age, and the wife of A. J. Gilliam, a carpenter in the employ of the W. M. Jones Manufacturing Company.
Besides her huband, four children survive. Her mother, Mrs. Eliza Allison, and sister, Miss Susie Allison reside at Brevard, while a brother, Jude Allison, lives in South Carolina The funeral was held from the late residence yesterday.
