Berneice A. Davis, Galesburg Chapel, 91, formerly of 1605 Monroe St., Galesburg, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Rosewood Care Center.
She was born May 23, 1919 in Victoria, Ill., the daughter of Victor W. and Mabel May Stewart Wagher. She married Frederick M. Davis on April 6, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2007.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda O'Dean of Galesburg, Kim Davis of Madison, Wis., and Karen (and Ron) Hamilton of Onalaska, Wis., a daughter-in-law, Linda Davis Ure of Temecula, Calif., a brother, Philip Wagher of Raleigh, S.C., and a sister, Norma J. Johnson of Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, John F. Davis, a grandson, Todd Davis, a granddaughter, Kelly O'Dean, a brother, Stewart Wagher, and two sisters, Shirley Weech and Joyce Reem.
Berneice worked mostly in the clerical field at Caterpillar, Burlington Truck Lines, and the Farm Bureau. She also worked in food service for School District 205, Elmer's Spudnut Shop, and Carl Sandburg College. She retired in 1983.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, a member of the Church Circle, and Hilltoppers. She also was involved with GMG Girls and was a Bible School Teacher. Berneice was a member of the Sewing Club, Viking Club in Moline, Ill., Rox's Keyboard Club in Peoria, Ill., J & B Music Club in Moline, and was past president of the Home Culture Club.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1937 and from Comptometer Operator School.

Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
