John J. "Joe" Hoss, of Russell, Kansas, died November 14, 2003. Mr. Hoss was born February 24, 1915, near Wallace.
He worked for Shields Drilling Co, as a water truck driver for several years and then worked for John Letsch Farms and Schaffer Farms as a farm hand for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma, in 1986; and a son, Terry Steven Hoss, in 2001. Survivors included a son, Roger Hoss; a daughter, Judy Lynn Novotny; two brothers, Waldo and Sandy Hoss; a sister, Minnie Ellen Garrett; eight grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.
