The baby daughter of Captain Frederick Benteen of 7th Cavalry fame, and his wife, the former Katharine Louise Norman, baby "Kate" was born at Fort Harker shortly after the Battle of the Washita, and died approximately a year later. Of all the children born to the Benteens, only their son Fred survived to adulthood.
