She was born on May 13, 1912 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late John and Laura (Duessing) Goerke.
Valeria attended Red Arrow Grade School in Cleveland and also the Sheboygan Business College.
She worked for 34 years as a U.S. Postal Clerk in Cleveland, retiring in 1976. She was an Honorary Member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
She was a member of St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland.
Valeria enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafting, cross-word puzzles, and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorene Rosenthal of Plymouth; a grandson, Ryan (Mary) Rosenthal of Howards Grove; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Nathaniel Rosenthal of Howards Grove; two nephews, Rodney Prinsen of Sheboygan and Du Wayne (Judy) Prinsen of Fuquay-Varina, NC.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rueben Rosenthal; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia (Harvey) Prinsen.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Wittkopp-Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth with the Rev. David Endorf, Pastor of St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow on Friday morning in the St. Johannes Cemetery in Cleveland.
