She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Douglas Lougheed, and by her elder brother, William Bradley.

Doreen was born in Wetaskiwin, AB to Norman Bradley and Frances Lillian (Dee) Bradley. Her father was the Chief Engineer for Alberta Highways and they moved frequently until they settled in Edmonton where she started grade six. She trained as a speed skater and one of her teammates was chosen to compete in the first women's event in the winter Olympics. She had a part time job in high school in the alterations department of the Eaton's Store and served on their fashion council. Doreen was accepted into a program in fashion design in New York but agreed to study for a year at the University of Alberta. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce from the Alberta School of Business and married Don Lougheed in 1949. Don Lougheed was a director and executive with Imperial Oil and they lived in many cities including Tulsa, New York, Regina, Edmonton, and Toronto.

Doreen was a wonderful mother and grandmother, participating in a wide range of activities and hosting wonderful family meals and parties. She designed and made all of her own clothes as well as her children's garments. She contributed to volunteer organizations especially the Junior League serving as its Treasurer. Doreen was often quietly driving family and friends to medical appointments. She also enjoyed curling, skiing, and golf as well as holidays at the Banff and later the Canmore cottage. One year she won the Super Seniors event at the Calgary Golf and Country Club. She loved planning holidays and travelled around the world with family and friends. We will miss this vivacious and compassionate woman.
