RONALD B. WILSON was born August 31, 1909 in Oakley, Idaho, the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Wilson and Hannah Rebecca (Hawkins) Wilson.
He attended high school in Burley, Idaho and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1934 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and he continued working on his Masters degree.
Ronald was united in marriage to Edith Hannah Chenoweth on January 9, 1934. in Moscow, Idaho.
He began his career as a teacher in a small school in Pingree, Idaho and finished it as a volunteer in Mrs. Courchaine's third grade class at Grant School in Spokane, Washington, at the age of 93.
In between he worked at a CCC Camp at Worley, Idaho, and taught vocational agriculture at Burley, Idaho. At the beginning of World War II, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army-Aircorp where he trained pilots. After the war he worked for the Soil Conservation Service and formed a partnership in Idaho Falls, Idaho to design and sell sprinkler systems to farmers. He and his wife, Edith, later moved to Kennewick, Washington, where he became a real estate broker selling farms and ranches.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, on December 14, 1992, after celebrating nearly fifty-nine years of marriage together. Following her death, he attended college writing classes and was known for sharing his stories and epistles with his family and friends.
Ronald's mother described him as the happiest little boy she ever saw. That quality followed him all of his life, manifested by his positive attitude, twinkling eyes and charisma. He enjoyed playing golf and staying active and in shape and was known as the oldest active member at the Gold's Gym in Spokane, until 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Karl J. Wilson.
Survivors include his three daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta Dolana, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Elinor and Bob Magnuson, of Spokane, Washington; and Anne and Al Caravone, of Hillsboro, Oregon;
Also surviving are ten grandchildren and their spouses, Frank Dolana, of China; Wendy and Kyle Saxon, of Australia; Ronald Dolana, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Robbie Magnuson; Becky Magnuson and Erik Fahsholtz; Kammy . Magnuson and John Doerschlag; and Sam and Katie Magnuson, all of Spokane, Washington; Felicia Caravone, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Curtis and Kimberly Caravone, of Gilbert, Arizona; and Rachael and Sam Lemmon, of Thomasville, Georgia; and nineteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family members who loved him.
The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Hospice of Washington County, 427 S.E. 8th Avenue, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123, or to Spokane Guilds School, 2118 W Garland Avenue, Spokane WA, 99205, in his memory.
