Lee L. Meyer

De Pere - Lee L. Meyer age 83 died Friday night June 25th at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay

He was born, January 26,1938 in Kiel, WI, son of the late Afred and Elvera Meyer. After graduating from Kiel High School. Lee attended Lakeland College before enlisting in the Navy.

On September 5, 1959, he married Janet Schmahl at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. Lee was employed at Patterson Dental and retired with them in 2002 after 43 years of service.

Lee was a man of faith and was very active in the Church. He belonged to the Green Bay Cooperative Ministers for many years. During this time and after his retirement he served on over 10 different local organizations that served the homeless and hungry. Lee was involved in creating the St John Homeless Shelter in Green Bay and the De Pere Christian Outreach, he received numerous awards and recognitions for his dedication to this population.

When Lee was not volunteering you could find him cheering on the Packers or playing cards. Lee was an extrovert who loved to dance and was known as the life of the party.

Unfortunately, on December 18th, 2007, a massive stroke took Lee's ability to talk. Despite this he will be known for the huge smile he would offer people he knew and his occasion hymn signing. Hymns allowed him to have his true voice.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Janet; four children: David (Phyllis) Meyer, De Pere; Craig (Kathy) Meyer, Crivitz; Christine Meyer, Minneapolis, MN; Kevin (Tanya) Meyer, De Pere; and three grandchildren; Kyle and Brett Meyer and Brandon Cherney. He is further survived by two sisters Lillie Rabe of Kiel and Debra (Delbert) Haas of Elk Hart Lake; one sister-in-law Marian Schneider of Kiel; nieces and nephews and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Norma Faber; two brothers Jerome and James Meyer. Brother and Sister in-laws, George, and Arlene Yunger; Gilbert Schneider, and Rodney Rabe.

Family and friends may visit after 1:00PM, Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at First Congregational U.C.C. 1018 Cedar Street, De Pere, until time of service at 3:00PM with Pastor Nancy Zorn-Micke officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family with arrangements.
